Nikkei Electronics reports – “Sanyo Electric Co, Ltd unveiled an organic electroluminescent (EL) panel with QVGA resolution (320 x 240 pixels) at CEATEC Japan 2003, held October 7-11 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture.

The 2.5-inch prototype panel is the most precise of all the organic EL panels that Sanyo has developed so far for mobile phones.

Explaining the reasons for developing a QVGA prototype, a Sanyo representative at the expo said the company had incorporated “a more practical level of specifications” with a view toward commercialization.

QVGA resolution is the accepted standard in today’s cell-phone displays. By making a QVGA prototype panel, Sanyo has come one step closer to achieving commercial viability.”
