Fujitsu-Siemens has plans to release two new handheld devices under the Loox brand. Both the 610 and 610BT will have wireless capabilities.

The Loox 610 dual-wireless model will offer both Wi-Fi 802.11b and Bluetooth. The 610BT will only have Bluetooth.

These will run on the new Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC platform. The dual-wireless model will run on 128 MB of RAM, Intel XScale PXA255 processor at 400 Mhz and 64 MB of flash ROM. The Bluetooth only version will only have 64 MB of RAM. Extra ROM can be used to store additional applications or files.

A transflective screen running 240 by 320 pixels (standard Pocket PC resolution) will be on both models. For expansion they will use CompactFlash Type II slot and a SD/MMC slot.

The 610 series models measurements will be 5.8″ long, 3.1″ wide, and 0.7″ thick (147.5 x 78 x 18.2 mm). The dual-wireless model will weigh 7.2 ounces (205 g) while the Bluetooth-only one will be 6.9 ounces (197g).

Both use 1500 mAh rechargeable batteries, but battery life may be less on the dual-wireless model since WiFi tends to draw more power.

Expected release date is Novemeber 2003 in Europe, no date scheduled date for North America.
