Freecom has released the ideal solution for mobile applications – external hard drives whose compact dimensions take up a minimum amount of space. The new FHD-2 hard drives are available in capacities of 20, 40 and 60 Gigabytes – thereby offering more than enough extra capacity to access even the largest data volumes when on the move, such as videos, photos, presentations or MP3 tracks. The very silent hard drive is safely contained in a robust, partly metal housing and weighs only 220 g, making it ideally suitable for mobile use.
The Freecom FHD-2 is available in two versions: the mobile hard drive comes with either a single USB 2.0 connection or a combination of one USB 2.0 and two FireWire connections. The FHD-2 is powered by the USB-2 or FireWire bus. A power adapter is included in case the USB port on the computer does not provide enough power for the hard drive. All relevant cables come with the unit. The Freecom FHD-2 can be connected to any PC, Mac or notebook without a restart or extra configuration being necessary, since the hard disk is pre-formatted for Windows. With USB 2.0, the FHD-2 offers hi-speed data transfer rates of up to 480 Mbit per second, ensuring rapid data access at all times.
Freecom supplies the new FHD-2 hard disks complete with award winning True Image software from Acronis. This software is the perfect tool to create images of any partition during use, making child’s play of the creation of back-ups and saving of data. All information, including the operating system and all applications, can be easily restored from the saved images
The Freecom FHD-2 is available in the shops from beginning of May 2003 from 169 Euro (recommended retail price). Freecom offers a 2-year manufacturers warranty for the mobile hard drive and unlimited technical support.
