Lindows.com, Inc. announced today, at the Desktop Linux Summit, the release of the first Lindows Mobile PC which will retail for only $799.
The Lindows Mobile PC is the ideal computer for anyone who needs their computer to be as “mobile” as they are.
“Until now, laptop computers have been either too expensive or too heavy to be useful for most consumers,” said Michael Robertson, chief executive officer of Lindows.com, Inc. “PDAs are also a problem because they don’t offer many features. The Lindows Mobile PC is a powerful machine that can go anywhere you want to take it.”
Just like Lindows.com broke the price barrier on desktop computers when introducing the $199 computer, the same is now happening to notebook computers with the $799 Lindows Mobile PC.
At only 2.9 pounds, the Lindows Mobile PC is the most affordable ultra-light laptop on the market today. Despite its small size, the 933 MHz Lindows Mobile PC features a 12.1″ TFT screen, 256 MB RAM, USB 2.0, Firewire, Ethernet and a PCMCIA slot that allows consumers to add a range of features, like wireless networking. The Lindows Mobile PC has a similar shape, size and power as the new Apple iNote but costs less than half the price.
