Fedex Adds Mobile Tracking

ViaFone™, Inc., a leading provider of mobile applications, today announced that FedEx Corp. has begun using its ViaFone OneBridge™ solution to support FedEx applications that give customers the ability to track package status, access drop-off location information and e-mail tracking results via most wireless devices.

ViaFone’s mobile solution gives FedEx the ability to continue offering customers wireless access to shipping information from more than 50 types of wireless hand-held devices including Web-enabled phones, two-way pagers and PDAs. Customers can:

Track FedEx Express, FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery shipments in near real-time;
Determine the status of shipments;
E-mail tracking results to multiple addresses;
Access FedEx drop-off location information.

FedEx also chose ViaFone OneBridge because it is a scalable solution that the company can maintain in-house. FedEx will have total control over the wireless application development and the flexibility to create other convenient wireless services for customers.

FedEx recently implemented the ViaFone solution in only four weeks, a notably short timeline for an enterprise-class wireless application.
