Handspring Treo hits Rogers AT&T Wireless’ retail shelves across Canada

The Handspring Treo 180 represents the first in a new line of products from Handspring that integrates a wireless phone, wireless messaging, and a Palm OS organizer into one compact, handheld device. Effective immediately, the Handspring Treo 180 is available at Rogers AT&T Wireless’ authorized dealer and retail locations including RadioShack, Future Shop, Business Depot and on the Rogers AT&T Wireless website at www.rogers.com. The Handspring Treo 180 will cost CDN $749.99 with a two-year service plan and $849.99 with a one-year service plan.

The steel-blue coloured Treo 180 measures 11 x 6.9 x 1.8 cm and weighs only 153g. The Treo 180 features the Palm OS, an integrated dual-band GSM radio module developed by Wavecom for voice and data communications (900/1900 MHz for use in North America, Europe and Asia).

Additional features include:

– 16 MB of memory
– a fast 33 MHz Motorola Dragonball processor
– rechargeable lithium ion battery
– travel charger with HotSync cable

– headset for hands-free phone use
– free GPRS upgrade available online later this year

The battery provides approximately 2.5 hours of talk time and 60 hours of standby time.

Executives from both companies will mark the launch and subsequent retail availability at a press reception on Wednesday, April 17 at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
