Cobra Electronics Corporation today announced that it has won four CES 2002 innovations awards, reiterating the company’s leadership in the radar industry. Now in its fifth year, the 2002 Best of Innovations award is given to the most highly honored products in each category. The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the industry’s leading trade organization, has recognized Cobra many times for its advanced design and product engineering. In total, Cobra has won more than 20 CES innovations awards.
“Cobra is honored to be recognized with four prestigious CES Design and Engineering Awards,” said Tony Mirabelli, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Cobra Electronics. “Earning industry recognition for excellence in product technology and design once again verifies our leadership in the industry and our continued ability to deliver innovative, feature-rich products to our customers.”
All of Cobra’s award-winning 10-Band radar/laser detectors were designed to include the features drivers demand, considering both the ergonomics of car interiors and the highest sensitivity and accuracy possible, to help maximize a driver’s awareness of their environment. Cobra’s industry-first feature for the 2002 detection line is SmartMute(TM), a speed-sensing, automatic mute system that virtually eliminates false alerts set off by automatic door openers, microwave links, and other non-police radar/laser signals while a vehicle is stopped or moving slowly. All four Cobra high-performance radar/laser detectors honored with a CES Design and Engineering Award feature the patent-pending SmartMute(TM) technology. The radar detectors recognized for their quality and design include the ESD-9160, the ESD-9210, the ESD-9560 and the ESD-9860.
Cobra’s ESD-9160 was designed with the safety and convenience of travelers in mind and features an electronic compass that consists of four LEDs (Light Emitting Diode), providing eight-point directions (N, S, W, E, NW, NE, SW, SE). Also standard on the ESD-9160 are five visual alerts and nine audio alerts, SmartMute, Auto Mute, LaserEye, City/Highway Selector, patented Safety Alert and Strobe Alert safety systems, Memory and Ultra Bright data display with LED backlit icons.
The ESD-9210 includes the added convenience of Voice Alert(TM), which provides specific band and mode voice annunciation for ease in identifying voice alert messages. The detector also has six standard visual alerts and eleven audio alerts, Auto Mute, LaserEye, City/Highway Selector, patented Safety Alert and Strobe Alert safety systems, Memory and Ultra Bright data display with LED backlit icons.
Cobra’s ESD-9560 features a digital compass and easy-to-read smart text display. Other features include EasySet Programming, Auto Mute, LaserEye, City/Highway Selector, patented Safety Alert and Strobe Alert safety systems, and Memory. The ESD-9560 comes standard with an audio output jack.
Finally, Cobra’s ESD-9860 includes features drivers demand — safety, digital compass, easy-to-identify Voice Alert(TM) messages and easy-to-read smart text display. The 9860 also includes EasySet Programming, Auto Mute, LaserEye, City/Highway Selector, patented Safety Alert and Strobe Alert safety systems, and Memory. The ESD-9860 also comes standard with an audio output jack.
The entire Cobra 2002 product line, including its award-winning radar detection systems, the microTALK FRS and GMRS two-way mobile radios, Citizen’s Band radios, and power inverters, will be on display at Cobra’s booth, #11337 LVCC South, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas from January 8 – January 11.
