Toshiba to Launch Low-Priced Digital Camera with 2M Pixel CCD, 3x Optical Zoom

Toshiba Corp. will market in early December a new digital camera, the “Allegretto M25,” which has a 3x optical zoom and a charge-coupled device of 2.16 million pixels.
Allegretto M25 comes with video cable, USB cable for PC connection, 8MB SmartMedia and image processing software. It is open-priced, but the expected market price is 29,800 yen. (123.46 yen = US$1) Toshiba’s monthly sales target is 10,000 units.
Allegretto M25 has a 1/2.6-in. CCD with effective pixels of 2.16 million (2.30 million pixels of whole), and the image resolutions available for shooting are 1,792 x 1,200 pixels and 896 x 600 pixels. The focal distance of the lens is 38mm-114mm when converted to a 35mm film standard camera format.
Maximum zooming of 6x is available when the 3x optical zoom lens and 2x digital zoom are used in combination. There are shooting modes, auto-focus shooting, continuous 16-picture shooting, long-time exposure, manual shooting, macro, and monochrome.
The camera is equipped with a 1.5-in. TFT-liquid crystal monitor. Its power source is four AA battery. Allegretto M25 measures 105mm wide by 68mm high by 55mm thick, and weighs 230g (excluding batteries).
