KDDI Corp. and au Group have announced that they will start marketing mobile phones with low-temperature polysilicon TFT-LCDs in August.

Toshiba manufactures both the color LCD panels and mobile phones. The number of displayable colors is 4,096.

The characteristic of the new mobile phone, called “C4151T,” is the polysilicon TFT-LCD, which Toshiba has developed for the first time in the world.

According to the announcement, such elements as contrast, power of expression of the colors, and response speed have been improved dramatically to provide a high-picture quality, to a level at which the eyes can clearly see.

Also the screen can display images without blurs and realize smooth displaying of screen savers.
