Siemens VDO Automotive Introduces GPS System for Passenger Cars

There are no more excuses for losing your way around Singapore.

Siemens VDO Automotive has introduced a GPS-based navigation system for use in all models of passenger cars. This means drivers’ ‘dog-eared’ street directory may be a thing of the past. All drivers have to do is to key in their current location, followed by their destination.

Behind the simple concept is a complex method of figuring out the driver’s exact location. The system uses as many as four Global Positioning System satellites, an on-board gyroscope and the car’s speedometer. Apart from guiding drivers on the roads, the system is capable of doing much more.
