Sierra Wireless AirCard 300 now available in Canada

Sierra Wireless and TELUS Mobility announced today that the Sierra Wireless AirCard® 300 is now available for Internet use on the TELUS Mobility Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) network.

The Sierra Wireless AirCard 300 allows mobile professionals to access the Internet from any computing device with a PC Card slot, including most models of notebook computers, and the Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC. TELUS Mobility clients can access their e-mail, the Intranet and corporate applications for only $50 per month in selected areas of British Columbia.

“Sierra Wireless and TELUS Mobility are long-standing partners in the Canadian wireless data industry,” said Mark McMillan, vice president, Marketing for Sierra Wireless. “We are pleased to be offering this product to TELUS Mobility’s wireless Internet clients in British Columbia. The Sierra Wireless AirCard 300, coupled with TELUS Mobility’s extensive CDPD network, is the perfect solution for mobile business professionals who want to access the Internet while working away from the office.”

The Sierra Wireless AirCard 300 consumes minimal power and is “always on”, allowing clients to stay connected to the Internet as if working in the office, with no dial-up required. The Sierra Wireless AirCard 300 uses CDPD technology to ensure reliable wireless access to mail, data, corporate applications and the Internet, ensuring that clients get the information they need while working away from the office. The Sierra Wireless AirCard 300 has won numerous awards, including the 2000 Mobility Award for Best PC Card from Mobile Insights, and was part of a wireless data solution implemented by United Airlines that received a Moby Award from Mobile Insights in October 2000.

“With the Sierra Wireless AirCard 300, TELUS Mobility clients can use their PDAs or laptops to get anytime, anywhere wireless access to the Internet,” said Robert Blumenthal, TELUS Mobility’s vice-president of Wireless Internet Services. “It gives our clients the power to take their office applications with them wherever they go.”

The Sierra Wireless AirCard 300 is now available through select TELUS Mobility dealers in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.
