Motorola launches handheld device with military specifications |

  Motorola has finally succeeded in launching its first computing handheld device with military specifications. The device has been categorized as the HC700-L and is believed to be the first in a series of handheld solutions. Although durable and rugged enough for military standards, the company is claiming that standard personnel and civilian workforce could also use the HC700.
The device has been developed on Intel’s Xscale processor and Microsoft Windows Mobile platform with color touch-screen display. It also boasts of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless capabilities as well as an advanced all directional omni-directional area imager for ID/2D barcode imaging. The company seems to be trying hard in sending across the point that the utility avenues of this new device far exceeds than what meets the eye. In a statement, the company has maintained, “The HC700-L is designed and tested to military environmental specifications to withstand the rigors of every day use. The HC700-L is ideal for individual field users and work teams in need of mobile data applications such as remote data base inquiries, job ticketing and field service, sales force automation, asset management and inventory management."
Meanwhile, Motorola has confirmed further additions in the HC700 family beginning from early next year.
